Our Story
How a gap in financial education for impact organizations became a clear purpose — and a firm based in Salta, Argentina.
Where We Came From
Sustemado was established in 2019 in Salta, Argentina, by people who had spent years working alongside social enterprises and impact organizations. What they kept encountering was the same problem in different forms.
Founders with genuine vision and deep commitment to their mission were struggling with their numbers. Not because they lacked intelligence or dedication. Because nobody had taught them financial literacy in a way that made sense for the kind of organization they were building.
Standard financial education was designed for conventional businesses. The frameworks didn't fit. The language didn't translate. The tools assumed a profit-only logic that simply didn't apply to hybrid organizations pursuing both economic and social returns.
How We Evolved
Founded in Salta
Sustemado SRL was formally constituted in Salta, Argentina, with a mandate to develop financial education programs specifically designed for social entrepreneurs and impact organizations. The first cohort program was drafted that year.
First Programs Delivered
The inaugural Financial Foundations cohort ran with a group of B Corp founders and social enterprise leaders from the Salta region. The feedback shaped the core curriculum that remains the foundation of our work today.
Online Format Developed
In response to demand from organizations across Argentina, the team developed online delivery formats for the core modules. This expanded access beyond the northwest region and introduced asynchronous learning options.
Uncertainty Planning Module
Argentina's economic volatility made clear that standard planning tools were insufficient. A dedicated module on planning under uncertainty was developed, drawing on scenario planning and adaptive budgeting methodologies calibrated to local conditions.
Continued Expansion
Sustemado continues to develop its curriculum and delivery formats, working with B Corps, organizations pursuing certification, and hybrid structures across Argentina. The mission remains the same: financial education that actually fits the organizations doing it.
What We Stand For
Specificity
Generic financial education does not serve hybrid organizations. Every framework we teach is calibrated to the dual-bottom-line context.
Honesty
We describe what financial education can and cannot do. We do not offer regulated financial advice or intermediation. That clarity matters.
Context
Argentina's economic environment is particular. Planning tools designed for stable economies need significant adaptation to be useful here.
Practicality
Concepts without tools are incomplete. Every module ends with something you can use in your organization the following week.
